Kandinsky made color theory an important part of the Bauhaus curriculum and his obsession with primary shapes (basic geometric shapes including triangle, circle and square) and primary colors (red, blue and yellow) influenced a new generation of artists. During this period, his abstractions became more and more angular, as in Orange, in which the circle emerges as the main form: ‘a precise but inexhaustible variable’, he said, which ‘indicates the fourth dimension more clearly’.
