Ancora un importante capitolo della collaborazione continuativa tra Medicom Toy e lo staff di Jean-Michel Basquiat, nasce il Be@rbrick 1000% #5 della serie.
Questo straordinario Bearbrick è ispirato ad una delle opere più famose ed affascinanti dell’artista newyorkese: “Cabra”.
Il dipinto “Cabra” era uno dei pezzi più pregiati della storica collezione privata di Yoko Ono.
Ora invece appartiene alla collezione del Guggenheim di Abu Dhabi, il museo nel deserto che la Fondazione Solomon Guggenheim costruirà nella capitale degli Emirati su disegno di Frank Gehry.
L’acquirente dell’opera, il 16 novembre 2017 ha pagato 11 milioni dollari, da una stima iniziale di 9-12 milioni, per il grande dipinto dell’artista americano del 1981-82, offerto dalla vedova di John Lennon all’asta da Sotheby’s.
L’artista dedicò l’opera a Muhammed Ali, con un gioco di parole in spagnolo il titolo significa, oltre che ‘capra’, anche ‘il più grande di tutti’ (dall’inglese goat, capra appunto, ma anche greatest off al time) .
Il dipinto ora fa parte di un grande museo che ha deciso di prestarlo Louvre di Abu Dhabi.

Medicom Toy once again collaborates with the entourage of Jean Michel Basquiat to create an extraordinary Bearbrick inspired by the work “Cabra”.
The painting “Cabra” was one of the most valuable pieces in Yoko Ono‘s private collection.
Now it belongs to the collection of the Guggenheim in Abu Dhabi, the museum in the desert that the Solomon Guggenheim Foundation will build in the capital of the Emirates to a design by Frank Gehry.
The buyer paid $11 million, from an estimate of $9-12 million, on 16 November 2017 for the large painting by the American artist of 1981-82, offered by John Lennon’s widow at Sotheby’s auction.
The artist dedicated the work to Muhammed Ali, with a play on words in Spanish the title means not only ‘goat’, but also ‘the greatest of all time’.
The painting is now part of a large museum that has decided to lend it to the Louvre of Abu Dhabi.
