In particolare compare nella trilogia anime composta dalle serie Mazinga Z (マジンガーZ Majingā Z), Il Grande Mazinger (グレートマジンガー Gurēto Majingā) e UFO Robot Goldrake (ＵＦＯロボグレンダイザー UFO Robo Gurendaizā), nonché nella serie di OAV Mazinkaiser (マジンカイザー Majinkaizā). Il cognome deriva dal kabuto, termine con cui anticamente in giapponese si indicava l’elmetto dei samurai, e la sua scelta vale a sottolineare come il pilota sia la testa, il cervello del robot.

Koji Kabuto (兜 甲 児, Kabuto Kōji?), Also known in Italy as Ryo and Alcor, is a character created by Gō Nagai and present in numerous of his works, both manga and anime. In particular, it appears in the anime trilogy composed of the Mazinger Z series (マ ジ ン ガ ー Z Majingā Z), The Great Mazinger (グ レ ー ト マ ジ ン ガ ー Gurēto Majingā) and UFO Robot Goldrake (ＵＦＯ ロ ボ グ レ ン ダā ザ ガ Gurēto Majingā) and UFO Robot Grendizer (ＵＦＯ ロ ボ グ レ ン ダ ā ザ). The surname derives from the kabuto, a term with which in ancient Japanese the samurai helmet was indicated, and its choice is to underline how the pilot is the head, the brain of the robot.
