Oscar vive in una pattumiera che dall’interno è più grande da quello che sembra dall’esterno: Oscar ha molti animali domestici, fra cui Fluffy il suo elefante di cui si vede solo la proboscide, e Smiley, il suo “verme domestico”. All’interno vi sono anche. una piscina, una fattoria, una pista da pattinaggio, campo da bocce e un pianoforte.
Nel film Le avventure di Elmo in Brontolandia, viene scoperto che nell’interno della pattumiera di Oscar vi è un portale che porta alla città di “Brontolandia” (Grouchland), luogo d’origine di tutti i Grouch.
Oscar ha anche una fidanzata di nome Grundgetta, anche se si amano l’un l’altro, il loro rapporto è (comprensibilmente) un po’ burrascoso

Oscar gave up his wonderful trash can on Sesame Street and became a Be@rbrick just to be with you… and make you as miserable and grouchy as himself! He still has half of his trash can from the waist down as well as an evil grin that’s sure to make you smile
Oscar the Grouch is a character on the television program Sesame Street. He has a green body, no visible nose, and lives in a trash can. His favorite thing is trash, as evidenced by the song “I Love Trash“, with a running theme being his collection of seemingly useless items.
Oscar also has a girlfriend named Grundgetta, although they love each other, their relationship is (understandably) a bit stormy
Although the term “Grouch” aptly describes Oscar‘s misanthropic interaction with the other characters, it also refers to his species. The character is performed by Caroll Spinney, and has been performed by him since the show’s first episode.
