Description
Medicom Toy Flying Devil Statue by Keith Haring White Version

This is Keith Haring’s Flying Devil Statue (2G Exclusive) x Medicom Toy.
Created by the artist in 1990, this is a one-of-a-kind piece that captures Haring’s classic style. Haring’s interest in the commercialization of art and the commercialization of its distinctive icons is reflected in this statue. These icons have become emblems of the social visions of artists, positive and negative. Struggle and anxiety seem to radiate from the images presented in this series.
Bridging the gap between the art world and the street, Keith Haring rose to prominence in the early 1980s with his graffiti designs made in New York City’s subways and sidewalks. Combining cartoon charm with the raw energy of ART BRUT artists like Jean DuBuffet, Haring has developed a distinct pop-graffiti aesthetic that focuses on fluid, bold contours against a dense, rhythmic spread of like that of children, dogs that bark, flying saucers, hearts and Mickey Mouse. In his subway drawings and murals, Haring explored themes of exploitation, submission, drug abuse, and growing fears of the nuclear holocaust, which became increasingly apocalyptic following his AIDS diagnosis. Along with Jean-Michel Basquiat, Kenny Scharf and Jenny Holzer, Haring is considered a leading figure in New York’s East Village art scene in the 1970s and 1980s.
